Creating synergies from different capabilities

At Greenberg Traurig Seoul office, a high proportion-3 in 4 of attorneys studied abroad-meaning they obtained undergraduate education in Korea and then moved to the States to attend law school.

Chang Joo Kim, the managing shareholder of the Seoul office, obtained his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Korea University and his LL.M. and J.D. degrees from University of Iowa. He was admitted to the bar in New York. Kim's practice focuses on capital markets transactions (IPO, debt offerings) for Korean companies and banks, as well as foreign investment banks. Recently, he broadened the scope of his work to encompass litigation and M&A.

Iksoo Kim handles corporate practice, including M&A, private equity and capital markets transactions. After graduating with a B.A. in Economics from Seoul National University and M.Sc. in Economics from the London School of Economics, he enrolled at Columbia Law School and obtained a J.D. Prior to law school, Kim worked as an investment banker at Lehman Brothers in Hong Kong and Seoul.

Specializing in dispute resolution, Dongdoo Choi received his Tax LL.M. from New York University and J.D. from the Arizona State University Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law. He focuses on international arbitration and litigation. Having authored several published papers on international arbitration, he is recognized as an attorney well-balanced in practice and theory.

Eun Sang Hwang is a Hong Kong native. After studying International Relations at Stanford University, he received a Master of Laws(equivalent to J.D.) from Handong International Law School and was admitted to the New York bar. He completed his LL.M. at Georgetown University Law Center. His primary fields of practice are corporate law and capital markets transactions.

In addition to the four resident attorneys, Yangho Charles Shin of the New York office, a litigation associate, creates further synergies, flying frequently between Seoul and New York to assist matters stemming from the Seoul office. He studied Economics at University of California Berkeley and received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
